What to do in March 2022
Officially in the UK spring this year 2022 will be on 20 March and isn’t it about time too. The dark early nights will be past us and the summer is approaching fast, thank goodness! What a long few years this has been and so it is time to look forward and and we are looking at things to do in Weymouth during the month of March. Did you know March is named after Mars, the Roman god of war!
Weymouth Pavilion have a lot of good options this March including a Rod Stewart Tribute Band, Dizzy Lizzy as Thin Lizzy, even an Adele Tribute and an Ed Sheeran tribute act amongst a number of other acts! If you like a bit of comedy there’s Nish Kumar on 24th March and an Eric & Ern (Morecombe and Wise) tribute and if you like a bit of gore then the Circus of Horrors is also showing. We are delighted at the number of great acts being shown at Weymouth Pavillion this March – take a look yourself, we’ve only mentioned a few! www.weymouthpavilion.com
Take yourself down to the Hope United Reform Church for Tea & Talks – Decades of Change, Transport in Weymouth in the years from 1985 – 2005 (7 March 2pm – 3.30pm) or On March 14th Teas & Talks – The life of a Georgian Child (same times apply).
Don’t forget Mothering Sunday on 27 March which originated in the middle ages when children who had left their families to work in domestic service were allowed to go to their home or ‘mother’ church and children would pick up flowers on their way home to gift to their mothers. Instead of picking up flowers, how about taking the family out to celebrate for a lovely sumptuous carvery at The Sun Inn, Lower Burton, Dorchester or a fabulous tasty meal at The Red Lion in Brewers Quay!
After a long winter how about getting the old noggin’ buzzing again and testing your brain power at a quiz night hosted at The Belvedere on 22 March at 2000hrs (8pm), in fact there is a regular Tuesday night quiz going on there!
So, what about the children? The Nothe Fort are hosting a Science Festival on 19 March at 11am and 20 March at 4pm – full details are available shortly on their website www.nothefort.org.uk
If you fancy just going out to listen to some great live music there’s plenty going on at The Belvedere including 5 March Wonkey Donkeys, 11 March Pronghorn and if you fancy giving it a go yourself there are plenty of open mic nights on Monday nights from 8pm!
Newsflash: We’ve just been informed that the Belvedere are offering a 40% discount on all food and drink every Thursday in March between 1830 and 2030hrs! Get yourselves down there!
Enjoy your March and if you do attend any of these events please feel free to share your photos on our facebook site.
