We understand the importance of your privacy and therefore commit to safeguarding your personal information. We would like to inform you of our privacy practices, how we collect, use and share it. Furthermore we are interested in your choices regarding this information which is relevant to everyone using Wild Oyster Holiday Homes (WOHH). Any reference in this statement to information or personal information is to “personal data” as defined under the General Data Protection Regulation. By using our site, you consent to us processing your data and you warrant that all data provided by you is accurate.

The personal information we collect: 

Personal information you provide For example, this information may be collected when you: 

  • Contact us about any of our services 
  • Create or update your account 
  • Subscribing to our newsletters 
  • Enquiring about, to book, review a holiday or other service 

The type of information we collect from you may include your name, email address, phone number, postal address and account password. If you are looking to let a property with us it may include your property name, Card summary information, eg last 4 digits, type and expiry, Stripe provide these to us when you enter your card details via their site when paying by card. 

We may also ask for information such as the names and ages of guests in your party, some of whom may be under 18. If you provide us with information for anybody under the age of 18, you may be asked to confirm that you are their parent or guardian and you agree to us handling their personal details. 


Information we may passively collect 

We may collect your IP address and browser user agent string ( eg “Chrome” ) when you submit forms on the site, this is used for anti-fraud purposes and to identify and block abusive users of the site ( anti-abuse, eg form spam). 


Information we may pass on to third parties 

When you pay online by card, we need to supply your billing address to the card processing company (we use Stripe for our payment processing), as your bank requires it for anti-fraud checks during processing as part of their address verification system. Stripe store the details of the transaction which includes your name and address and summary card details ( brand, last 4 digits, expiry date ) as well as optionally a “continuous authority token” if you have opted to remember your card. If you subscribe to our mailing list/s we may need to pass on your name and email to our mailing list service provider. They use those details to deliver our email as well as track delivery failures so we can eliminate terminated addresses from our list. 

If the need arises, we may pass your details (address, telephone and email) on to an owner, caretaker or housekeeper, eg. for returning property left behind after a stay, for legal proceedings, customer support or any other justifiable case. 

When we use third party online booking systems we will use your property details to advertise you home as available for bookings. This information is managed by WOHH and we will not pass your personal details onto the third party sites. The property details within these sites will come under their own privacy statement. 


What do we use your information for? 

We use your information for processing your bookings and sending you booking related as well as requested material, such as emails, letters and possibly brochures. If you have opted in to our special offers or news mailing, your name and email will be used to send you occasional special offers or property news via email. Any information we may collect passively are used to maintain a smooth operation of the site and to track errors as well as performance. 


Correcting/Updating Personal Information 

If a user’s personally identifiable information changes (such as your postcode) the User can update or remove that user’s personal data provided to us in the User’s personal profile page or by sending an email to us via our contact page.

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies”, which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyse how Users use the site. When you use our services, for example booking a holiday or letting your property through us, we will need you to supply us with specific information required to fulfil a contract or related contracts, such as the contract created between the property owner and guest. If you refuse to supply part or all of this information, we may not be able to fulfil these contracts.

The Act gives you the right to access information held about you. Your right of access can be exercised in accordance with the Act. All of the information that you have provided to us is also visible to you within your online account if you created one during registration ( if not you may ask us to set up an account login free of charge).

If you wish to have us remove any information that we retain on you, you may request the removal of that information from our systems if possible. Please note that if you have made financial transactions with us we are required to keep detailed records of those and will not be able to remove information related to those. We can remove your email address, telephone numbers along with anything that may be used for email or online marketing purposes upon request.

If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on this page so our users are always aware of the information we collect and how we use it. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we will notify users by way of an email. Users will have a choice as to whether or not we use their information in this different manner. We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.

For example, a guest may contact the owner of one of our listed properties prior to their holiday to arrange a late arrival or an owner may contact the guest after the holiday if belongings have been left in the property.

We may communicate with you about our products, services, promotions and news or, where applicable, relevant third parties’ services. 

We may also provide you with relevant advertising and content about our services through third party providers as well as tracking performance of this advertising.

We may use the information we collect to investigate or address claims or disputes relating to your use of our services, or as otherwise allowed by applicable law. 


Guests and property owners 

When enquiring about a holiday we are required to share details about the guests with the owner to arrange the booking. When booking a holiday, we will share both the guest details to the owner and the owners details to the guest.

When using one of our services (a guest enquiring about a holiday, for example) we may share details about them with parties we contract with. For example, when booking a holiday, we will share both the guest details to the owner and the owner’s details to the guest.

When you submit content through public forums such as blogs, social media and independent partners for holiday reviews, any personal information provided in such forums is done so at your own risk as voluntarily provided by you.

Where we share your data with third party advertising platforms (such as Google or Facebook) to provide you with relevant and personalised marketing content, this information may be joined with information held within that platform.

This website takes every precaution to protect our users’ information. When users submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline. 

When our registration form asks users to enter information, that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry – SSL.
